Richard Blanchard ~ Ministry
The First Church
The First Baptism
Farewell Dinner at Jacksonville
The First Church ~
While still in seminary, Dick was assigned to a four-point country circuit near Atlanta. The Snellville church, with 100 members, was the largest of the four. He felt that his experience with the wonderful country people was the best possible preparation for the ministry.
The First Baptism ~
His first Baptism was to the baby of Hugh and Doris Snell, while "Miss Clemmie," the ancestor of the Snell clan, looked on.
Farewell Dinner At Jacksonville ~
Richard's bright yellow coat was a hit at First Methodist in Jacksonville. Farewells were always sad, but a new appointment was always a challenge.

A Retirement Dinner Crowned A Wonderful Life
The Honorary Doctorate ~
Named a Doctor of Divinity by the Monmouth College in Illinois, Richard's attire on Sunday morning was a black silk robe with velvet bands on the sleeves, and a stole. He enjoyed being called "Dr. Blanchard," but never let that exalted status affect his friendships.
Proclaiming God's Word ~
What does a preacher do? He preaches! The Riviera Beach church was an inspiring place to preach in and to listen.
A Retirement Dinner Crowned a Wonderful Life ~
Several hundred guests were greeted with a big Blanchard smile at the end of a 40-year career.
" Dick was a precious friend and mentor to me as a young soloist. I remember with great fondness spending an afternoon in your home, him at the piano and me 'trying out' some new songs - one of which was 'I Saw Jesus When He Died' which I have used numerous times in concerts.... God blessed my life through Dick Blanchard."

Now An Emeritus Pastor
"I want to express my gratitude in how God used you 22 years ago as an instrument to touch my life through the song, 'Fill My Cup, Lord,.' Although it was 13 years later that Jesus Christ came into my heart and did 'quench the thirsting of my soul,' I never forgot that song during those years."
Jamall B.
"I have been wanting to write to you for some time to tell you what a blessing the song 'Fill My Cup, Lord' has been each time we have heard Bill Mann sing it."
Cliff B. - (Former) Song Leader and Music Director - Billy Graham Evangelistic Team
Now An Emeritus Pastor ~
Several years after his retirement, the Conway United Methodist Church named him the honorary "Emeritus Pastor" at their church.
"Your music lives on - especially 'Fill My Cup, Lord.' It has comforted me many a night when I had trouble going to sleep after Byron passed away. God Bless."
